64 becomes 16 very quickly. To be viewed as the best of the best you have to be part of the 16, yet you do not have to win too many games once you get to the dance. (The regular season is like lead generation, if you don't do it well, you will never make it to the kitchen table - or the big dance.)
Mid majors may pull the occasional upset, but the power programs and conferences end up winning in the end. (As a team, you need to be committed to building a program and be associated with a great brokerage that gets the job done for you.)
There is a lot of money being made off of the efforts of the tourney. (Thank you lenders and title companies and the other "supporting sponsors" for keeping the show on the air.
