The Double Bottom Line -- An Idea who's time has come for The Earl Team

I recently read, or should I say, devoured the book entitled "The Business of Happiness: 6 Secrets to Extraordinary Success in Life and Work" by Ted Leonsis and first off would say that I truly enjoyed it and found it to be so refreshing in today's business environment.

I don't want to give a "book report", just point out the what I found to be a key concept.  The Double Bottom Line.

To my initital understanding, the double bottom line is created by a business that is focused on more than just the financial bottom line of creating profit.  As a business, one that is dedicated to creating an environment of happiness, they truly end up creating a second or double bottom line.  One that is not as easily measured, but is truly felt by all that come into contact of the enterprise, the business, the community that is touched, served and in many cases, created by the company that is focused upon creating a double bottom line.  

While this can apply to charity work or by strictly giving back, I have a feeling that the doing well by doing good core concept of the double bottom line can be expanded to cover the day to day activities of a real estate team.  People need help in this market.  They need professionals to show up.  They - buyers and sellers - need and want to be happy and we provide value by creating a happy environment for the dreams to come true.

Mr. Leonsis - or Ted as I know him as a facebook friend :-) - emplores his readers to "Manage that double bottom line in all of your business efforts and try to be happy. You can do it." 

Happiness.  Tough to remember in our shifted market, but something that we can obtain and caused to grow and multiple.

Over the next few weeks and months, I plan on carving out part of this blog to report how we as a real estate team in Northern Virginia will be working on our Double Bottom Line.

 

Service is the oxygen to our human existence, without it we would start to wither away to nothing.
